oral skills with restauran simulation

As a final proposal, there is the restaurant simulation where one will be the waiter and the other the customer in a dynamic way, where one takes the order and the other asks for food

In order not to make the situation boring, the roles are exchanged once the first role is finished.

Below I share vocabulary that can be useful for the development of the activity

To make the topic clearer, I'll leave an example of what the conversation would be like.

oral skills with vacations

Another dynamic way to practice skills is vacations. We all have a place that we love to take vacations, so why not use it to practice?

This activity consists of thinking about your favorite place to vacation, and talking about all the pros and cons that the place has.

Once you have these ideas and to make it more dynamic, try to convince your classmates why your place is the best to spend vacations.

For this activity you can talk about places, landscapes, food, adventures... etc., everything that you feel you can use about your place to convince others.

oral skill with music

A pretty good way to work on oral skills is to practice with music, because music is something that usually interests everyone, everyone has favorite songs and why not use that to help learning?

Below I will leave an example with the explanation of how to practice oral skills.

As you can see, it is a song by Sia-Snowman, I consider it a good song to start with because it has a slow rhythm

How does the activity work?

Simple, look for your favorite song in English (preferably an easy one to start with) The song must have subtitles in both English and Spanish

It is a pretty good exercise because it helps expand vocabulary and helps with speech fluency

importance of oral skills

Oral skills are essential in learning English for a number of reasons, as they allow students to develop language skills essential for effective communication. Some of the most important reasons are:

1. Developing practical communication:

The main purpose of learning a language is to communicate, and oral skills are crucial for expressing ideas, needs, and emotions in real-life contexts.

It helps students participate in everyday, academic, or professional conversations.

2. Improving pronunciation and intonation:

Practicing oral skills helps to perfect pronunciation and avoid bad habits that could hinder understanding.

It allows students to pick up and reproduce patterns of intonation and rhythm, essential for fluent communication.

3. Increasing confidence and self-esteem:

Speaking in a foreign language can be intimidating at first, but with practice, students gain confidence.

Oral fluency strengthens your confidence to interact with native speakers and participate in discussions.

4. Immediate feedback:

By practicing speaking skills, students receive direct feedback from teachers, allowing them to correct mistakes immediately.

This feedback encourages active learning and improves language proficiency.

5. Integration of other language skills:

Speaking is closely linked to listening, reading, and writing. By improving speaking skills, students also strengthen other language skills.

For example, listening and responding promotes deeper listening comprehension.

6. Cultural and social adaptation:

The ability to speak English facilitates adaptation to different cultural contexts and allows understanding of the implicit social norms of the language.

Students develop important intercultural skills for interacting in a globalized world.

7. Preparation for real life and the professional environment:

In an academic or work environment, speaking skills are essential for presentations, interviews, and team collaborations.
